Suggestions for automatically setting prices on Play.com?
9 Sep 2013
Hi I am new to Web Retailer and am hoping someone can help...

I sell a fair amount of DVDs on Play.com but am finding that my prices are constantly being undercut by other sellers. Does anyone know of any software that can check the prices of similar goods and automatically set my prices so I do not keep missing out on customers? It's just not practical for me to check every one myself!

Thank you!

Automatic repricing started with Amazon, and that's still the best supported marketplace by far. A few of the specialist repricers support eBay (some just eBay.com) including Appeagle, Marketplace Repricing and Price Spectre.

Of those Appeagle probably has the broadest support including Rakuten.com (Play's parent company) but not Play itself.

That leads you to more general-purpose management tools which also include a repricing feature. Are you already using software for marketplace management? If not (or you are willing to change) SellerExpress has low entry pricing so is worth checking out.

Other marketplace management tools which support Play.com and do dynamic pricing include eSellerPro, Cascade, FillZ, Monsoon Pro, Seller Dynamics and Sellernet.

One reservation though: although those tools do support Play.com and have dynamic repricing, I haven't researched if they all actually do dynamic repricing for Play.com - it may be they just support listing/sales on Play. I hope that makes sense . Does someone out there know for sure?

Correction: Removed Quantity Manager

Hi Sam, hope you saw my post on your other thread - we do support full 24/7 dynamic repricing on Play.com here at Seller Dynamics. We were the first to do and we remain the only company to offer this as a built-in service to all our clients, no matter what size your inventory is.

We also offer full 24/7 dynamic repricing on Amazon UK and any of their other global sites, as well as on the leading French marketplace Fnac.com.

Our system includes full inventory management across all these marketplaces as well as eBay, and is the perfect way to expand your business.

I'm sure we could help you out, please do feel free to get in touch.

Many thanks

Steve

PS Please note that eBay do not currently support automated repricing - if they did, we would be the first to offer it!

Actually, there are a few services offering eBay repricing...

I understand that eBay does not offer an API for repricing so are these services doing it "the hard way"?

Hi Andy - I should've been more specific in my answer, and said "...eBay do not currently support automated repricing in the UK".

In fact, to the very best of my knowledge, it's only eBay.com ie the US site which allows the system access via APIs to enable automated repricing - and even then, it's only available for US-registered sellers.

Marketplace Repricing and Price Spectre both make this clear on their websites.

We would hope that this functionality comes to eBay.co.uk and other eBay country sites before too long - when it does, Seller Dynamics will once again look to be the first to offer this to clients as we did for Play.com.

Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification Steve.

eBay repricing is worthy of its own thread, so I've started a new one for that here:

This is incorrect. Price Spectre has supported all eBay marketplaces (not just US) since it first launched in 2009. What you are referring to is specifically in regards to the eBay App Center which eBay has never released outside of the US or HK with the exception of eBay's own Listing Analytics tool. If you want to see the eBay App Center in the UK pester eBay. We gave up asking them after 3 years.

Someone in the UK would need to register directly with us instead of through eBay to use our software.

You are 5 - 10 years too late for that.
