Market Analysis Software, can they do this?
13 Nov 2005
Most of the Market Analysis software I have seen seems to do a good job of searching for hot products, etc. But is there a way to do research center around the sellers, and secondly the products they sell. Like the following:

Most active sellers?
Power sellers that became power sellers in a short period of time?
Highest volume sellers?
Sellers that sell high dollar products? Or with a price range?

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I don't think you will find that feature in any of the licensed products (e.g. DeepAnalysis, Terapeak, PriceMiner, Andale) as eBay strips Seller IDs out of the data they provide to them.

Take a look at a market analysis tool that works by page scraping, such as AuctionIntelligence.

Many eBayers want to research sellers, so I think it's an area that deserves more attention.

The new version of DeepAnalysis will apparently include seller-specific data, as well as shipping data.

eBay has added demographic, shipping, and international site data to the eBay Market Data program, so it's likely that other licensed data users such as Terapeak will also be enhancing their services. The Seller ID is hashed so you won't be able to identify usernames, but will be able to tell one seller from another.

I spoke to HammerTap about DeepAnalysis yesterday, and they said that eBay had lifted the Seller ID restriction, so that DA3 will be able to research specific sellers.

That's an important new development, and I expect that the other licensed tools will follow suit.

It leaves me wondering if there is any advantage left to using unlicensed market analysis software.

I'll be posting a new review of DA very soon.

Sadly its eBay.com only.

As they use licensed eBay data, they have to pay separately for each country and haven't had the demand to justify adding new countries.

Your only option at the moment is AuctionIntelligence

Keep an eye on www.equidation.com too. The best is that it is free.
