@Parcelhub In your article your first tip, "Always Rewrite Manufacturer’s Descriptions" is very important and a very effective SEO strategy.

Good article.

Hi Jon,

Thank you for your feedback.

Agreed, product descriptions / removing duplicate content are a top priority, and is definitely one of Matt Cutts' (Head of Google Webspam)'s top things to avoid, as discussed in this video.

Thanks,

Simon

Good post but 10 really isn't enough!!!

You could also include:

  • Keyword research - This is a must for any website because it forms the foundations of your SEO strategy. Incorrect keywords lead to attracting the wrong audience and poor rankings so get it right from the start.
  • A mobile-friendly website (This is a must no as Google is clamping down on sites that offer poor user experience).
  • Great engaging content - This will encourage people to share your pages and link to you which will give your site a huge boost. Certainly worth investing in!
  • Fresh, regular content- Google wants to see some owners making regular improvements to their site. If you don't update your website then you can't expect decent results.

  • There's plenty more but maybe for another day as I have a day job.

    Thanks Matt,

Some great tips there - Some more I would like to add would be additional ways to improve user experience, such as 'breadcrumb' menus for easier navigation and optimising the back end of the website for improving site speed.
