Amazon return policy for Europe
28 Feb 2015
Hi,

I am looking to set up an Amazon Unified account and sell my products in the UK, Germany, France. I am based within the UK and plan on fulfilling the orders myself directly from the UK.

Reading on Amazon it says that I must either supply a free returns label or a local address within the countries so the customer can return them.

Can anyone give me advise on this.

Hi, there's a similar discussion here:

It really seems like a service is needed to help with this, if the parcel forwarding companies aren't already doing it.

This is a problem that we have also been faced with.

There are several companies that will now take your returns and send them on to you from the international marketplaces. Royal Mail also offer an international returns service.

What you have to think about is if it is really worth paying for the return ?

A large number of the items we ship internationally cost on average around £6.25. Having shopped around the average cost of returning an item is £7. With international return requests for any reason currently at 0.37% it does not make sense for us to ask the customer to return the goods.

If the goods are faulty we ask them to bin them, if they don't like the goods we ask them to donate the goods to charity.

Obviously it depends on the value of the goods that you sell, but to us it makes economic sense to do it this way.

For anyone wanting to know more, here's two companies that do an international returns service:

www.salesupply.com/projects-an...-international-returns-service
www.intercultural-elements.eu/returns-collection-2

And here's the Royal Mail service:

And for those using FBA there's Amazon's own returns forwarding service:

I am faced with this dilemma as well. I use Amazon.ca and my main warehouse is in Oregon, I basically just totaled up my sales and profit. Put it against the possibility of certain returns (seeing as how a lot of my products require freight shipping because they are in excess of 1000+ lbs). So right now I'm kind of playing the field without having a forwarder. If I get a return or returns that meet the limit of my profit then I will spend for the forwarder. Aside from that, I don't want to add another expense for something that may or may not happen. In my area of sales, there is rarely a return that is on the expense of my company, most products are covered by manufacturer warranty and they take care of shipping after the initial send.
