What to do and not to do while doing online business?

We all are avid online sellers and every day we do a lot of transactions, deal with customers(all kinds of customers), do mistakes, learn and keep growing. We already have a resourceful information regarding all necessary tools in here. We also have reviews about all of them. I would like to list down here what to do and what not to do while selling online based on the other seller's experiences and to let other sellers avoid those mistakes in their life.

Do's:

1) Make store with your customers in mind: Sell things and re-arrange it the way that buyers find it at convenience and pick the most interested items easily on store and categories.

2) Pricing: This is the most critical part. You need to do some competitive analysis. Find similar products in other platforms and check the pricing. Be reasonable in your store. Cover your marketplace fees, cost, shipment etc, and yes do not forget to add your profit margin.

Don'ts:

1) Do not sell other's products as yours: Some people get products, modify it and sell it as their own without getting OEM. Be honest and respect other people's hard work. Get permission before doing it.

2) Do not forget customer service: Customers are the core part of any business. If they are happy, get their positive feedback. If they are not, make them happy and get their positive feedback. Because positive feedback is the asset of your store for getting more business.

Here's mine in no particular order as they are all important:

Do's
  • Have your products in stock
  • Dispatch and deliver quickly
  • Charge a reasonable price based on other on-line suppliers
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Show clear delivery charges

  • Dont's
  • Sell out of stock products
  • Ignore customer e-mails / messages
  • E-commerce , love it or hate it, that's why we are here

    Thank you for pointing it out.

    With most sellers it happens that we all know what to do but because of other tasks and bound of time and availability, sometimes we miss customer's emails or delay in delivery and that may hurt to the seller and their business. So we need to take care of the priorities and plan accordingly.
