Large inventory to liquidate. FBA sellers' help needed!
24 Mar 2016
Hi all,

I work for a company called Nishi Pearls. We are a pearl jewelry manufacturer and wholesaler with offices in Seattle, Montreal Canada and Hong Kong. Our main customers are large chain stores to whom we sell both branded and generic goods.

Over the last 30+ years, we have accumulated a large amount of overstock inventory. We have never had a constant outlet to liquidate this merchandise and it has now reached levels that are too high so we are exploring various options.

We have over half a million USD worth of pearl jewelry in stock that we would like to liquidate and I thought that Amazon might be a good place to start. We have zero experience in selling on sites like Amazon and Ebay and I would rather partner up with experienced sellers who know what they are doing and who are trustworthy over trying to do it all myself from scratch.

If you want a quick idea of the type of merchandise that the stock is comprised of, you can check out NishiPearls.com. The profit margins in silver and freshwater pearls are attractive as silver is a precious metal and pearls are a natural genuine gem so the perceived value is high whereas the cost is often less than you would think. The prices that are on the website are retail prices and therefore obviously much higher than the price at which we would be ready to sell this stock (at cost basically).

I am looking for a trustworthy seller with experience and a history of ratings/comments that can be verified. I am open to work in whichever way is convenient including sending merchandise on consignment once a business relationship is established.

Please let me know if you are interested by contacting me at arka@nishipearls.com.

Thanks and good luck!

Hello, Arka,

My company Valigara Online Jewelry Manager provides an advanced eCommerce platform for many experienced online jewelry and diamond retailers. I can forward your request to the potential professionals. For this, please let me clarify few things:
- Is this an one-time action or you are planning to create an ongoing online business for your company?
- Can the items you are willing to liquidate be produced again if the seller will ask for?
- Are you willing to use Amazon only, or are other marketplaces / channels an option too?

Best regards,

Hi Igor,

Thanks for your reply. We have tried platforms like this in the past such as Polygon.

We are not interested in a platform and we are not interested in managing anything ourselves. And no we are not interested in replenishment orders on these items.

We just have a lot of items that we want to liquidate at cost or below and are looking for sellers who are looking for stock they can take on consignment from us and on which they can make good margins. Which marketplace they chose to sell on is their business.

Thanks,

Arka

Hi Arka

I have to admit that I thought that this was a scam when I first saw this post. It is a coincidence but we received a message offering a free 'low grade' sample of pearl products from a company in Hong Kong last month with a promise of massive discounts if we sell them on. I have checked and it wasn't from your company.

Why not put them in your 'sale' section on your website at cost price ? Surely you have the images, and it would not take that long to list them.

You may get some luck from some sellers, but many are loathed to part with their cash for specialist 'high value' items such as yours.

However, 'er indoors has seen a nice bracelet that she says that she may want for our wedding anniversary, so at least you may get one order from your post !!!

Thanks for the reply : )

Ya i guess it may sound like a scam.
The thing is we have way too many items and not enough traffic yet on our own website to be able to liquidate thousands of pieces in a timely manner. Plus the website already has all of our current collections and the sale section will work on liquidating items that are already up (photographed and info put on website) that get discontinued.

I realize that paying for such items may not work for sellers looking for good items to sell which is why we are open to doing consignment (sending some goods without payment) as long as the seller has verifyable credentials. We can start small and if it works out, grow from there.

Congrats on your wedding anniversary and if you do end up selecting something from the website, you can go ahead and use the coupon code LOYALTY15 for a 15% off ; )
