Selling abroad and deal with local tax import for clients
14 Apr 2016
I am a long time seller on eBay and in our shop we do not offer returns. We are interested in offering returns but how to manage local tax?

If someone lets say from the US orders an item they will have to pay import costs from any non US country. It is clearly stated in our policy that custom fees are not included in the price. We are selling quiet expensive items so if they order a watch for 5k USD the import costs will be around 1k USD.

If the buyer does not like it for some reason and he returns the item:

- Is it possible to get the import tax back?
- And if that's the case, how?

We are interested in offering returns as an extra service, but I am afraid that these returns will create a lot of new problems like unhappy clients who want to try two or three watches, send two back and receive an extreme tax import fee for all the items.

Looking forward to hear some ideas!
