Has anyone tried these yet, we're particularly interested to know whether the 'sales' gathered count towards the item's ranking...

Do you mean through services like Snagshout or iLoveToReview?

What I hear is that the short-term rankings boost is just as valuable as the reviews themselves.

Having said that, Amazon have got wise to reviews that are only posted due to deep discounts (not giving them the Verified Review badge), and it wouldn't surprise me if in the future they take a similar view of the way it affects sales rank and do something to counteract that too.

Just my observations, would be great to hear from sellers with first-hand experience.

I think it's designed to get followers on social media... I can only find people discussing using it to give away Kindle books.
