Supplier Price change nightmare, is there software to help?
8 Aug 2017
Hi,

Currently we use an excel spreadsheet to put in our cost prices and work out our margins and what to sell the item on in different marketplaces.

But it's just becoming completely unsuitable.
e.g. our suppliers might give us a 30 price changes every week... then we are having to find the row in the spreadsheet and work out the new price for various marketplaces. (one price change might affect multiple SKUs as we might sell on one marketplace
1 x widget
3 x widget
6 x widget etc...
and most products we sell on 3 marketplaces.).

so even as little as these 30 supplier price changes results in a load of work.

Is there an easier way?
Thanks!

@UKseller

If you use multi channel software such as Linnworks, then a CSV is possibly your easiest option.

We probably get 20 or 30 price changes a day, as well as changes in exchange rates to cater for.

As an example based on our use of Linnworks (other software may no doubt be similar).

When an invoice comes in with the goods, we book the stock in on Linnworks. If the price on the invoice is different to the last price shown, we alter the cost price on our 'MASTER FILE' (made it look important because it is !). It is easy for us to find the SKU because they are all numerical and are shown on the 'Goods in' screen The spreadsheet is also in SKUmerical order. Usually takes around 10 minutes to book in and alter 20 prices.

From our 'MASTER FILE', based on the cost price, it calculates prices for around 25 selling channels as well as min and max prices for our repricing software (Price Spectre and RepricerExpress). We upload the file to Linnworks, (and with slight editing to our repricing software) and usually within the hour our revised prices are displayed on the selling channels.

Selling multiples of 1 widget can be easily achieved by adding a formula to your excel file to save entering it yourself. The same can be done with bundles / compositions.

Like I say, this is based on our use of Linnworks. If you are using something different, I am sure that there is a similar facility. I guess a lot depends on your spreadsheet.

@Bigian13 Thanks Ian for taking the time to reply, that's definitely the kind of solution we are looking for.

Please no replies from vendors recommending their own software, unless the original poster says they want that.
