Stitch Bug Reactivates Old Etsy Listings
The bug hit at 2 am on Thursday 12 February, and caused listing fees to be incurred when old products were unexpectedly reactivated. Etsy has said listing fees incurred because of the bug have been refunded.
Both sellers who regularly use Stitch Labs and those who had signed up for a free trial in the past were impacted by the bug. Etsy temporarily disabled Stitch's ability to access the Etsy API, but has since reinstated the tool.
Etsy spokesperson Sara Cohen told EcommerceBytes "This was caused by a bug on Stitch Labs' side, and was not related to Etsy's Listings Manager or other Etsy features. Less than 0.1% of active Etsy sellers were affected. We'll be reviewing how all third-party apps are authenticated and evaluating if any changes need to be made to the program."
Stitch Labs co-founder Jake Gasaway said "As soon as we discovered the bug, we proactively worked with Etsy to quickly fix it and communicate to those affected. All issues have since been resolved, and we have put in safeguards to make sure this will not happen again," he said.
