Summary
The software is very powerful but is not really working for us. It's possible that is was just oversold by a "too aggressive" sales guy, but it does not function as advertised for us. There is a lot of customization in the software, don't don't be fooled into thinking it is like we were. We had a pretty expensive inventory and it took us a very long time to complete the implementation. We spent more on that than we did on the software. The system is very complicated and there is a big learning curve. It is cumbersome to bring new product into the system, so if you deal with a lot of new product on a daily basis, this can be kind of tedious. If you make a mistake in your inventory that needs to be deleted, you may have to pay them to fix it, as there are some parts you cannot access to fix yourself. We had a lot of trouble getting the information we needed out of the system. The reporting is not as good as we would like. We often have to run more than one report and use excel to merge the information together for us. After signing up we were told that better reports were available for another $100 per month. In hindsight I wish I had a lawyer go over the contract. In my case I had to agree that everything was just what I wanted when I signed up. Turns out, at least in my case, the software is a lot different when you jump into it on your own than when the sales guys is quickly bouncing through it. You will want lots of time to confirm that the software works like you expect it to. We were over a year into the software when we discovered that our sales tax liability was being reported incorrectly. They fixed it quickly, but seems like a pretty basic function to get right. The eBay part of the software is not nearly good enough for our needs. The feature that automatically relists a sold auction, and pulls a zero quantity item off of all channels is neat, but out of the 4 other eBay management platforms I have used, this is the least powerful. The company appears to make very little effort to keep current with the new features on eBay. There is no way to do real time shipping calculations using eBay's shipping calculator. In a big step backwards from our previous software we now do fixed price shipping. You can only list one picture on eBay. You can not use the eBay cross-sell feature. If you want to list both an auction and a Buy It Now listing for the same item, you have to create a duplicate product inside of Core Sense. Amazon and the web channels seem to be fairly strong, although for Amazon it does not allow us to set a subcategory, but limits us to the top level category. This review is simply my opinion based on my experience. Your experience could be completely different, especially if you have a sales guy that educates you and makes sure that your company is a good fit before signing you up. A test environment to play with prior to purchasing would have been helpful in my case. That might have better prepared us for what to expect from the software.
