TERAPEAK HAS CROWN STEADILY WORSE BEFORE AND AFTER EBAY

What where the positives?

N/A

Any negatives?

Absolutely, dump 2.0, go back to an earlier version of the original, you have over featured this so much that we find it frustrating to use.

Summary

When Terapeak first started it did exactly what it was designed to do, give me pricing within 3-4 seconds, filtered highest to lowest price, perfect. Now it is so pathetic that it is almost useless. I just did a search on Pioneer CT-F1000, which is a cassette deck. For an entire year, it found exactly zero, whereas a 2 week search on ebay found dozens. Terapeak 2.0 version is absolutely terrible. The previous version was actually useful, this one is pointless. The cell phone app is completely inaccurate to the point of absurdity, so I am forced to use the standard terapeak on my cell phone. 2.0 is so filled with useless data search garbage that fills the first several pages that you have to scroll down and down, then play hide and seek with changing the features. The support is pointless to use, this app is so corrupted with ebay pointless data graphs, charts etc, that it is pure frustration to deal with. The search results are also useless, since the are so incredibly inaccurate. I have to be able to use this app to find the price to purchase my items for so I can make a reasonable profit on ebay. This was my go to app for pricing research, but now it is inaccurate, untrustworthy, laughably over complicated and a complete waste of money.

Summary

I signed up for the 7 day trial and, as sometimes happens forgot about it. Little did I know that Terapeak automatically signed me up for the $29.95/month "research" package. They never sent emails that would give me a heads up this account was active...just shadily took $29.95 out of my act for 4 months before I discovered it. When I logged in to cancel, I noticed that my selling accounts weren't even connected. You would think that Terapeak would have sent a reminder to me letting me know that this $29.95/month service was not being utilized and that I might want to hook on my selling act information. Nope, they didn't send one email. Not one. What I LOVE is on their main page, there is a link at the bottom saying "REFUNDS." If you click on it their legal contract appears just to let you know to not even think about asking for one. I guess it must be an ongoing problem for them if they actually have a 'REFUNDS' direct link on their home page. I do not know if this service is worth the $ or not because I never used it but what I do know is that they basically stole $120 from me over 4 months for a service I never even hooked my selling account to. To me, that is shady and fraudulent and I will never recommend.

WASTE OF MONEY

What where the positives?

N/A

Any negatives?

Summary

DO NOT waste your time or energy on this *** company. I signed up for a “Free” 7 Day trial, went in on the 3rd day after signing up and “cancelled” per their instructions. Two months in a row they have charged me $54 for their basic subscription which I don’t have access to because on my account it says that the only subscription I have is free. I had to contact my billing company 6 times to get this resolved so they could get my money back because Terapeak does not have a phone number (how convenient!) and they do NOT answer emails. This company is a complete ***, no wonder they are going out of business and being bought out because they are stealing from innocent people.

Rubbish Product

What where the positives?

Useless product, most information is irrelevant. They claim that information would help sell more but the information is not even clear. They are not cheap either. I would recommend hiring someone to pay and create data online. I used Fiverr, sales shot up with it. The relevant information was the sales data but this also now is useless because of the way ebay and amazon advertise your product. I would not recommend it to anyone at all.

Any negatives?

Almost everything

Summary

Support was the worst, I was charged in trial period and not refunded, eventually had to go through paypal. They did manage to sort the issue.

What where the positives?

N/A

Any negatives?

Summary

Few working features it had are already removed or nerfed. Company has lost its vision. Terapeak which was once a good MI tool is now turned into a bad Reporting tool which only gives you data for your own store. MI part was totally destroyed and the data and tools now available are totally useless and waste of time. If you want a tool for Market Intelligence (MI) it's not the one. If you want to use it to monitor the performance or data of your own stores and there is no need to waste money on paid version of terapeak. There are many other tolls available in the market with can do the same (but infact alot better than terapeak) for less subscription fee.

Summary

Our company uses Terapeak (among other tools) for market and product research. As a complement to other analytical methods, I can totaly recommend Terapeak. Short training time and fast results guarantee a professional application. Until now, there is little to complain about. And if there is any issue, the support answers quick and reliable. New upgrades are well communicated and explained in the help section. Best example is the product identification search. A good idea with a lot of potential for any trader.

Any negatives?

Summary

I started the process of using the trial, but I Never Activated the trial, then a a few days later they charged my credit card for $239.72 USD Not only had I not activated the trial, but the trial period was not even over, before they billed for a whole year. This is kinda crazy behavior and indicates they are hurting for money, which if true why charge such astronomical fees for the app, they are not competitively priced with alternative apps. Just nuts. It feels like a scam to me. I never even logged into the app after first review, I saw what they wanted to charge and abandoned the cart, so I assume this is how they got my credit card details and forced the order through on their own.:evil:few d

They have made some terrible changes that make it no longer a useful tool. As well, the product search is completely accurate now. My products come up in searches but no longer show accurate sales records... WTF!!! I want a refund!!! You are better off just doing your own research for item items sold on Ebay and look for yourself at who the top sellers are and if their products are selling. I gave Terapeak a one star rating because there was nothing lower...

This software use to be a really strong tool for anyone selling on eBay. It gave you the edge... and let you know if something was worth listing or not...but now... it's Worthless.. can longer search sellers... no competition / top sellers.. completed item search is garbage.. tools have changed and become confusing... even my Ebay account manager told me it's not what it used to be. I pay about $240 a year for this service and it's just not justified anymore.. I'm better just doing it myself.

Currently I’m stuck with http://www.tradu.io Customer service is much better and responds instantly. This is really important to me, people that buy my items on eBay expect a quick response of me too.

Terapeak is Tera-ble

What where the positives?

Any negatives?

Summary

I use Terapeak Pro, and I gotta say its so worthless. If you are using it for antique / collectible research, you are basically getting 6 more months of ebay completed listings. I dont even know why they have a date range that goes beyond 1 yr on their product research tool. As an example, I can type in "horse bookends" and select the date range from 2004 and the earliest listing returned is only from a year ago today. I mean why deceive your customers like that? I purchased Terapeak to give me an edge in research, but every time I use it I just think of the money I wasted on this service (or disservice for that matter). Wish there was a worthpoint pro or something, I would gladly use the money I spent on a terapeak subscription for an expanded version of that research tool cause I just constantly shake my head in frustration with terapeak.

Summary

I and my various companies began using Terapeak when it first appeared. It is no longer a useful tool to look up information quickly. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am no longer able to find ended eBay listing to search for what was listed: what the description was; what the pictures where; or what the pricing did. Their may be some long-in-the-tooth way to find out but it is NOT intuitive. Don't know what technology master designed this but it most certainly was not someone even remotely familiar with usability issues and testing and I taught that subject at the University of Colorado. So my grade for this incarnation of Terapeak is "F".

Um, we paid for a year subscription to this service almost a year ago. Had some business projects going and didn't look at it for several months. Logged on this weekend and it seems that you are now LOCKED OUT of all the valuable data that was there before. Is it just me or have they "dumbed down" the tool? I am very upset that you can no longer click through to the actual Ebay listing. I don't see anything at all for Amazon? Is this just hidden or did they literally do away with all the former features?

Their "free" trial is actually one cent. That they charge to your credit card immediately after signing up. They have no customer service number and apparently no customer service after a certain time seeing as how I've emailed them 3x in the last 5 hours and got no response.

Summary

I've used Terapeak for a couple of years and have really liked the information. It used to be well laid out and had a user interface that crushed HammerTap's garbage UI. In the spring of 2008, however, Terapeak rolled out a new user interface that disabled a number of features and frankly skewed the data bad enough that I use them only for limited, focused research instead of broad, browsing research. Examples include the Categories graph/chart has lost it's links to drill-down into deeper data the Categories left-menu tree now shows sub-categories with a Total Listings value rather than the Total Sold value the sort-by End Price is often inaccurate, resulting in a jumble of non-sorted results and the premium Hot Research is limited and lacking punch. I do like the new Date Range selector and the higher Saved Search Query limitation. Support is clearly overloaded, with the development team able to resolve serious issues in terms of months, but at least they seem to be trying. Overall, I still prefer Terapeak (certainly over the over-rated HammerTap service), but disappointed in the design changes introduced in early 2008.

Summary

I feel obligated to post a good review of this software because it has been so helpful. The staff is also very professional. I originally opted for a trial, which I did NOT cancel in time. I was billed, and rightfully so. So I contacted them saying it was a mistake, which they replied to (me not expecting it either) NO PROBLEM! They send the charge back. Now I'm a paying customer, and believe me... it's pricey. But this is what you need if you want to take this seriously. Now for the Terapeak staff that are reading this How bout storing all of your licensed data for an ultra premium service? Being able to go back through a whole year of auctions would be VERY useful. For instance right now I want to see th market for halloween costumes, but I can't REALLy see the market until this year is done with =( Otherwise I can't fault Terapeak on anything other than price... damn it hurts... but what can you do exept use a service which delivers at 70%?

If you love data, reams of it, then Terapeak is for you. It can tell you the price on the day in the category, etc. The US market is free (international sites at a price) and online with no software to install. For the newbie, the mountains of data could be pretty overwhelming, especially without understand what the data means.

Summary

Terapeak is not bad considering the fees. It is so easy to use! Although there is absolutely no learning curve, they still provide a quick and easy to follow help page with screen prints. All you have to do is type in your search term(s), select one or all categories, choose 1, 7, 30 days of data, and/or end day. Results appear within a few seconds. The research is based on closed listings, seller IDs, and categories. You have the option to save your searches. To make better use of the raw data and figure out your selling strategy, I recommend you go even further by using their Search filters (price ranges, listing durations, listing types, listing promotions, time of day). Another great option is their Hot Items Search filters (average price, total sales, total listings, total sold listings, total bids, average price, sell-through %, bids per listing). You can sort the data anywhere from 14 days - 2 years, and group it by day or 7 days. They offer workshops on eBay to help you understand and use the raw data. Also, they were very prompt and courteous in responding to my emails. DRAWBACKS - Seriously lacking data and suggestions for potential keywords! - The only preference changes you can make are the defaults for 1, 7, or 30 day search and the look and feel of the tool. I don't care what color the tool looks like, I just care about the data. - All search results are done in PST. - It looks like they are planning to research other eBay selling platforms, but for now, all you can research is the USA platform.

Impressive scope and a commitment to improvement

What where the positives?

Summary

* UPDATED FOR VERSION 2 * Terapeak analysis is performed by day, week, or month, and eBay category or search term. Both category and search-based analysis offer a "Research" tab along with "Top Sellers", "Trends", and "Closed Listings". Category-based analysis also offers "Selling Features". * Research offers an overall insight into the marketplace, including listing features, pricing, duration and more. * Top Sellers is an anonymized, sortable list of sellers. * Category/Search Trends shows the change in total listings, successful listings, average price and more over a period of time. * Closed Listings shows the raw data of items being analyzed. * Selling Features is a customizable breakdown of usage and success for listing upgrades such as bold, highlight and featured. A separate section is the "Hot List" - an at-a-glance list of categories with the the highest bid growth. Many improvements to the navigation and layout have been made in version 2 - the full browser width is now used and the tab-based navigation is intuitive for eBay users. One small grievance is that there is no apparent logic to the color-coding of sales volume, and the same colors are used in the "Price Buckets" barchart with an opposite meaning - a consistent "cool to hot" scheme would have been easier to follow. Some inconsistency and lack of clarity remains in the navigation wording - since Terapeak is all about research, calling a tab "Research" is not helpful! The help section is clear and easy to navigate, but more links from the analysis pages would be useful, e.g. to find an explanation of the Hot List you have to leave the page and search the help. The scope of statistics available from Terapeak is impressive and real insights can be gained into the eBay marketplace at a very reasonable price. Because there is so much depth it can be a challenge to turn the raw analysis into usable strategy, but with perseverance there is true value to Terapeak's service.
