Shopify’s Free Trial 2022 rolls on: 3 months for $1 per month

Back in August, Shopify started running an offer on monthly subscription plans for new merchants — and it’s still going as of this writing. But for how long? With the end of the year approaching, it’s prime time to take advantage of this promotion.

Shopify’s free trial deal

For new accounts only, merchants can get a 3-day free trial of a Basic or Starter Plan and only pay $1 per month for the first three months upon signup.

This offer doesn’t apply to the Shopify or Advanced tiers, so enterprise-level customers will have to wait for another promotion — though they can still try the platform for free for three days.

During the free trial, merchants have access to:

  • Tools to build a fantastic online store
  • Channels to promote sales and market your brand
  • A comprehensive point-of-sale system
  • Around-the-clock support

How much is the Shopify discount worth?

The discount only works on monthly plans, so we’ll put annual payment discounts to the side for the moment. Currently Shopify Starter is $5 per month, so that’s $12 in savings for the first three months. And the Shopify Basic plan is $29 per month, so that’s $84 saved.

If you opt for an annual plan, the total price still comes out less than their monthly rates. Once you decide whether you’ll stick with Shopify, it’s best to go this route and take a full 50% off the monthly rate.

Your best course is to try out the platform for 3 months at $1 per month and then switch to an annual plan.

How you can pay $1/month for Shopify

You can try out Shopify without a credit card for 3 days. That’s just enough time to get a feel for the platform and go through some basic training.

Afterwards, you must set up a paid account. Shopify accepts both Mastercard, Visa, or Amex credit and debit cards, and they also accept Shopify Balance or PayPal in some regions.

When you activate your free trial, you’ll receive a discount code to get the $1/month Shopify new merchant rate. At the end of the three months, the system will begin auto-charging at the regular rate — currently $29/month.

Again, we recommend switching to an annual payment plan at that point to get the most value.
