Top eCommerce tips for 2023

Top eCommerce tips for 2023

1. Mobile is essential

Earlier this month, we reported a statistic from Adobe Analytics stating 48% of digital sales came from a smartphone on this year’s Black Friday. And overall, mobile purchases are still on the rise even after years of growth.

Sellers starting or scaling an eCommerce business must incorporate mobile optimization into their business plan. It’s an essential function that will drive sales and expand the reach of your marketing campaigns.

2. Offer multiple payment options

In last week’s Tuesday Tips, we highlighted the benefits of offering buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) as a payment option. But this week, we’re expanding on that option and reminding sellers to offer more than just credit cards as a payment choice.

The goal of online selling is to get customers to complete their purchase. Any obstacle could send them to another channel with a quick click. To facilitate this push, offering additional payment options like Apple and Google Pay, PayPal, and BNPL options are crucial to keeping customers moving through the checkout process.

3. Enhance your visuals

The best way to keep customers from scrolling or clicking away from your side is to offer visual appeal with your products. Consumers are obsessed with video and images and will stay on your site longer if you offer something engaging.

It isn’t enough to just take a few photos and post. At the very least, sellers should offer an appealing infographic that provides depth product feature depth. But ideally, you’ll take a step further next year by adding video and interactive content to your listings.

Although this isn’t a game changer, it’s a channel online sellers should leverage in 2023. Even though Amazon cut a lot of the Alexa team, Google Home, Siri, Alexa, and other voice systems will all remain a part of our lives for years to come. To boost your sales next year, be sure to optimize your keywords for voice searches.

Now sure how? Here are some tips:

  • As most voice searches trend towards local products, be sure to optimize your site for local SEO.
  • A Google Business Profile is key to getting into voice searches. Even if you run an eCommerce site, be sure to list your business.
  • Add an FAQ section to your site as the voice search will pinpoint Q&A across the web.
